George was born about 1876 in Oundle, Northamptonshire.1   George's father was William STEERS and his mother was Elizabeth STEERS. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Benjamin, Charles, Jane, Mary, Betsy and Alice.  He was the second youngest of the eight children.
