William George was born about 1862 in Bristol, Gloucestershire.1   William George's father was Henry Phillip STEER and his mother was Margaret STEER. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Phillip Jno, Richard Henry, James Charles, Charlotte Ann and Mary Catherine.  He was the oldest of the six children.
