Thomas was born in 1711 in Caterham Surrey.1   Thomas' father was Ralph STEER and his mother was Catherine KING.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas STEER and Mary. He had a brother and four sisters, named Ralph, Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine and Martha. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, William, George, Margaret and Jane.
