Kate was born about 1879 in Letherhead, Surrey.1   Kate's father was Eli STEER and her mother was Mary A STEER. She had seven sisters named Mary, Annie M, Jane, Sarah Louisa, Isabel R, Alice and Edith.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
