James C was born about 1872 in Greenwich Kent.1   James C's father was James STEER and his mother was Eliza A STEER.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Mary A WALLER. He had five brothers named William H, Sidney J, Alfred G, Henry G and Frederick J.  He was the oldest of the six children.
