George was born about 1898 in Clapham London.1   George's father was John STEER and his mother was Fanny STEER. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Alfred, John, William, Charlie, Ernest, Annie, Fanny, Amy and Ethel.  He was the second youngest of the ten children.
