Florence Jane was born about 1901 in Aveton Gifford Devon.1   Florence Jane's father was James William STEER and her mother was Emma Ash STEER. She had two brothers and a sister, named Arthur John, Francis Edward and Edith Mary.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
