Ernest was born about 1890 in Salisbury Wilts.1   Ernest's father was Walter STEER and his mother was Alice Chivers.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Emma CHIVERS. He had two brothers and a sister, named Sidney, William and Gertrude.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
