Edwin was born in 1871 in Leigh Kent.  Edwin's father was Abraham STEER and his mother was Mary Ann MAYNARD.  His paternal grandparents were Henry STEER and Philadelphia BROWN. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Abraham, John, Henry, George Thomas, William, Charles, Albert Edward, Edward Frederick, Sarah and Rosetta.  He was the youngest of the eleven children. He had a half-sister named Esther.  He died at the age of 1 in 1872 in Leigh Kent.1
