Edward was born about 1886 in Horsell.1   Edward's father was Allen STEER and his mother was Hannah Mant. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Vernon, Hubert, Mildred, Ella, Nellie, Daisy and Elsie.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.
