Edward was born about 1847 in High Wycombe Bucks.1   Edward's father was William STEER and his mother was Harriet D STEER. He had five brothers and two sisters, named James, Robert, George, Austyn, Henry, Harriet and Martha.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
