Anna Maria was born in 1780 in Tonbridge, Kent..1   Anna Maria's father was William STEER and her mother was Sophia Luck ELLIOTT.  Her paternal grandparents were Humphrey STEER and Elizabeth HAM. She had six sisters named Louisa Harriet, Jane Elizabeth, Sophia Ann, Elizabeth Jane, Mary Ann and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
