Alice was born about 1878 in Derby Derbyshire.1   Alice's father was John T STEER and her mother was Emily STEER.  Her paternal grandfather is <Unknown> and her paternal grandmother was Hannah STEER. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Fredrick, Charles, Mary E and Emma.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
