Alexander William was born about 1884 in Torquay, Devonshire.1   Alexander William's father was Alexander Harris STEER and his mother was Elizabeth STEER.  His paternal grandparents are Steer and <Unknown>. He had two sisters named Florence and Eva Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the three children.
