Charles was born about 1880 in Brading, Isle of Wight.1   Charles' father was Thomas STEARS and his mother was Susannah J STEARS.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Susanna GRIMSEY. He had three brothers named Harold, Douglas and Alfred J.  He was the youngest of the four children.
