Thomas was born about 1844 in Exford Somerset.1   Thomas' father was John STEAR and his mother was Agnes STEAR. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Joseph, Richard, Lewis, William, Keziah, Mary and Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the nine children.
