Catherine was born about 1824 in Birmingham Warwickshire.1   Catherine's father was William STEAR and her mother was Jane STEAR. She had a brother and four sisters, named Henry, Eliza, Jane, Elizabeth and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
