Hannah's father was John Wild and her mother was Hannah Dodgson (of Thorner).  Her maternal grandparents were Matthew Dodgson (of Shadwell & Tadcaster) and Eleanor Thompson. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named John, William, James, Samuel, George, Charles, Frederick, Anne and Eliza.  She was the fifth youngest of the ten children. She had a half-sister named Ellen.
