Mary Stangenwald's father was Henry Waterhouse and her mother was Julia Hawkins Dimond.  Her paternal grandparents were Rev John Thomas Waterhouse and Eleanor Dickenson. She had three brothers and a sister, named Henry, Frank, Albert and Eleanor.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 43 on April 9th, 1915.¹ 

‌Mary Stangenwald and David were married in a religious ceremony on May 1st, 1895 in Honolulu.¹
