Eleanor's father was Henry Waterhouse and her mother was Julia Hawkins Dimond.  Her paternal grandparents were Rev John Thomas Waterhouse and Eleanor Dickenson. She had three brothers and a sister, named Henry, Frank, Albert and Mary Stangenwald.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 68 on June 21st, 1938.

‌Eleanor and Arthur were married in a religious ceremony on June 21st, 1893 in Honolulu.²
