George was born in 1815 and his baptism took place on May 3rd, 1815 in Grimsby, Lincoln, England.1  George's father was William Simpson and his mother was Rebekah Rack.  His paternal grandparents were William Simpson and Rachel; his maternal grandparents were William Rack (of Brocklesby) and Sarah Mumby (of Keelby). He had three brothers and five sisters, named James, John, George, Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca, Diana and Jane.  He was the oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named Thomas.
