Dorothy was born in 1904. Dorothy's father was Arthur Edwin Pearse and her mother was Annie Frances H Tucker.  Her paternal grandparents were William Pearse and Celia Vivian; her maternal grandparents were John Tucker and Elizabeth. She had four brothers and a sister, named Edwin, William, Percival, Eric and Muriel.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
