Richard was born before 1736 and his baptism took place on February 29th, 1736 in Methwold.1  Richard's father was Andrew Flatt (of Methwold) and his mother was Elizabeth.  His paternal grandparents were Andrew Flatt and Mary. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Robert, John, William, Joseph, Peter, Mary and Hannah.  He was the youngest of the eight children.  He died in 1822.  He was buried on July 23rd, 1822 in Methwold.1
