Ordained Reverend in 1860. Educated at Woodhouse Grove School and Didsbury College. Discovered the shorthand code of John Wesley's Journal and edited it for publication in 1909. Author of "The History of the National Children's Home", and many other works. Editor of the Methodist Recorder 1886-1906. Memorial at Gravesend Methodist Church.
