David, known as D.J., was born on July 20th, 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia.1   D.J.'s father is John Darrell Sharp Sr. and his mother is Karol Ann Glasspoole.  His maternal grandparents were Wendell Glasspoole and Katie   Werlin (Glasspoole).  He has two brothers and a sister, named Jeffery, John and Mary.  He is the oldest of the four children.
