Mary was born on May 29th, 1831.  Mary's father was William E. Hishon and her mother was Frances Langford.  Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Hishon and Mary Enright. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Bill (William), Daniel, Possibly James, Sara(h), Margaret, Bessie (Elizabeth), Ellen, Frances and Kate (Catherine).  She was the oldest of the ten children.
