“FELL DOWN WELL.
Charters Towers Fatality.
CHARTERS TOWERS, August 26.
Although Ambulance men battled for his life by the application of resuscitation methods, Peter Thomas John Oshyer, a well-known resident of Charters Towers, failed to survive a fall down a 12ft. deep well near his home on the Broughton Road this afternoon. Oshyer, an old aged pensioner, 70 years of age, went to the well at about four o'clock, it is understood, with the intention of bailing water. When he failed to re-appear, members of his family became anxious and an investigation revealed his body in the water. With the assistance of neighbours he was brought to the surface, and the Ambulance Superintendent performed artificial respiration, but without success.”
