William Matterson 
William was born in 1877 in Dyraaba Homestead, Casino NSW.1 William's father was Charles Henry Matterson and his mother was Alice Mary Elizabeth Beavis. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Neales C Matterson and Elizabeth Clayton. He was an only child. He died at the age of 69 on October 6th, 1946 in Private Hospital, Casino NSW.1 Death Notes

"MR. Wm. MATTERS0N
CASINO, Monday.—Mr. William Matterson, who died in a private hospital at Casino, was a well-known resident of this district. He was born at Dyraaba Homestead, 69 years ago. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Matterson, after leaving Dyraaba, acquired land at Naugh-ton's Gap. Later when the property was subdivided he secured portion, and his sister, Mrs. S. Pearce, remained on the old homestead. He had lived there for 54 years. Apart from dairying he was interested in carpentry work, and did much of this work on the surrounding farms. He was a keen member of the Protestant Al-liance Lodge and was a foundation member at Casino. He married Sophia Rankin in Lismore, at the age of 21. His wife predeceased him 13 years ago. A grown up family survive. They are Miss Ann Matterson (Naughton's Gap), Mrs. C. Schuhmacher (Grafton), Mrs. F. Whitford (Wardell), daughters, and Charles (Lismore). William (Sydney), George (North Casino), Arthur (Melbourne), and Neil Matterson (Bentley), sons. Surviving sisters are Mesdames P. Earea (South Grafton), A. Earea (Lorne), S. Pearce (Naughton's Gap), and T. Hicks (Casino). There are 14 grandchildren."
