NSW Death Cert No. 9445/1946 states that in 1946, Charles Henry MATTERSON died in the Gosford area. His father's name was Thomas Neales MATTERSON and his Mother's name was Elizabeth MATTERSON (nee Clayton).

"MR. CHARLES H. MATTERSON
Mr. Charles Henry Matterson, aged 89 years, father of Messrs Clayton and Norman Matterson, died at the home of Mr. Walter Matterson at Woy Woy this morning.
The late Mr. Matterson was well known in West Wyalong, where he has visited his sons, Clayton and Norman, from time to time. He possessed a kindly and genial disposition, and was highly regarded by those whom he met on his visits to the town.
About a week ago he suffered a heart attack, and Mr. Clayton Matterson left for Sydney. During the week he made a temporary recovery, but died this morning after another sudden attack.
He has spent all his life in Sydney, and was for 30 years at Randwick.
The late Mr. Matterson leaves four sons and two daughters. They are Clayton (West Wyalong), Walter (Woy Woy), Charles (Austinmer), and Norman (West Wyalong) ; the daugh-ters are Mrs. F. Weatherall (Carlton) and Mrs. F. Kimber (Quirindi). His wife predeceased him five years ago.
The funeral will take place in Sydney tomorrow."
