Jane was born in 1800 in Stoughton and her baptism took place there on May 11th, 1800.  Jane's father was George PETT and her mother was Mary SMITH. She had four brothers and six sisters, named George, James, William, John, Elizabeth, Mary, Pheobe, Lucy, Hannah and Ann.  She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.
