The City of Bristol is a historic seaport and commercial center. The largest City in the SE of Enfland.
The River Avon divides Bristol, with the north and west of the city in Gloucestershire and the south in Somerset. In 1373, Bristol became its own county, separate from Gloucestershire and Somerset.
In 1974 Bristol became a unitary authority and part of the County of Avon.
