- There are baptisms for James and Maria at Manchester Cathederal (and Collegiate Church) going back well before 1840:
William (1829); Sarah (1833), Elizabeth (1835); Isaac (1838); Ellen Ann (Mar 1841), Maria (Dec 1841), Mary (1844) so that can't be them! The 1851 census also shows this James (34 in 1851) had a brother Luke (20 in 1851)
No Solomon had children (inc James) baptised at Manchester Cathederal.
