Thomas' father was Thomas Williams and his mother was Mary Woodworth.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Woodworth and Alice Dobb. He had a brother and three sisters, named Joseph, Maria, Alice and Mary.  He was the second oldest of the five children.

‌Thomas and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on July 9th, 1828 in Neston by John Husband and witnessed by Hannah Huntington & John Haswell.¹
