Mercy was born in July 1757 in Greenhill & Helwick and her baptism took place on July 24th, 1757 at All Saints (Bingley).¹

Mercy's father was Robert Walsh and her mother was Mary Bear. She had six brothers and three sisters, named James, Jonas, Robert, William, John, Thomas, Mary, Sarah and Martha.  She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 78 in 1835.
