Henry was born in 1798 in Breightmet and his baptism took place on April 22nd, 1798 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Henry's father was John Vickers and his mother was Alice Lomax ((2)). He had five brothers and a sister, named Nathaniel, James, Jeremiah, James, John and Alice.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
