Frederick's father was Daniel Travis and his mother was Alice Mather.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Mather and Sarah Hope. He had two sisters named Sarah and Harriett.  He was the youngest of the three known children.  He died at the age of 75 in July 1916 in Bolton.  He was buried on August 2nd, 1916 in Astley Bridge.²
