Margaret was born in 1859 in Aldford.¹ Margaret's father was Robert Thomas and her mother was Mary Roberts. Her maternal grandparents were Philip Roberts and Mary Phythian. She had three brothers and a sister, named John, Phillip, Joseph and Mary. She was the youngest of the five children.
