Benjamin was born in 1815 in Mirfield and his baptism took place there on April 16th, 1815.1 2  Benjamin's father was Benjamin Stocks and his mother was Ann Peel. He had two brothers named Joseph and Joshua.  He was the youngest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Jonathan and Ann.  He died at the age of 89 in March 1904 in Fleetwood.

‌Benjamin and Rachel were married in a religious ceremony in June 1847 in Huddersfield.3  They had two sons and three daughters, named Sam, Allen, Emma, Mary and Maria.  There are no more children.
