General Notes

Hartley was NOT a son of Lucy Alma Hill (as 1911 census shows she only had 7 children and 2 had died)

Hartley was living with Thomas Smiths and Hills in 1891.

In 1881, Hartley (7mo) is with parents William and Lucy and brother Harry (4).

In 1907 Hartley Smith a painter, aged 25, married Esther Shoesmith of Alma Terrace, Moreton.  However his father William was a warpdressere.  Is this the same person?

In 1908, after they married the family were still living at 14 Alma Terrase, Marlow (when Alex baptised). Hartley was a Painter

In 1911, Hartley was still a House Painter with wife Martha at 4 Upper Mill Row, Morton (both 28).  They had a child, (alive, but not with them).

In 1913 another Hartley Smith (same age) married Clara Greenwood at Keighley.  Also, from 1913, the Romford births are another Smithj+Shoesmith family.

In 1939, Hartley is missing.

In 1955, Hartley Smith, decorator is in the Phone Book, living at 252 West Lane, Keighley.
