Both parents died soon after John was born. It also seems John was not the son of Lydia, as no birth registered with EDDOWES as the mother.
Richard and baby brother John (aged 1) were paupers, in a home in Fazakerley, Everton in 1891, after both his parents died.
He was probably adopted, as no matching death record for a child in Lancashire in that decade.
