Vilma, known as Wilma, was born in March 1911 in Birkenhead.1  Wilma's father was Karl (Richard) Alexander Otto R Rueger and her mother was Mary (Merri or Maria) Fredericke Westpfahl.  Her maternal grandparents were Christian Friedrich Westpfahl and Anna Catharina Soffea Dunkacke. She had two brothers and a sister, named Bernard, Ronald and Alma.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 3 in January 1915 in West Derby.2
