During WW2, Ronald V escaped to England (not sure exactly when) before he could be called up to the German army and, there, joined the British Army! When the remainder of the family were repatriated, one of the first things Ronald did was persuade them all to change their name from Rueger to Rogers (to avoid any possible repercussions from the British people).
