Jane was born on January 9th, 1823 in Turton and her baptism took place on May 28th, 1823 in Blackburn.1 2  Jane's father was John Orrell and her mother was Sally Lord. She had three sisters named Ellen, Sarah and Alice.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 78 in 1901.
