Catharine was born on March 17th, 1841 in Uelzen and her baptism took place there on March 19th, 1841.1  Catharine's father was Heinrich Christoph Niemann and her mother was Catharine Dorothee Kohlmeier. She had a brother and a sister, named Johann and Elise.  She was the oldest of the three children.
