Ellen Morris

Ellen was born in September 1846 in Little Bolton and her christening took place on September 13th, 1846 in Bolton.¹²

  Note: Too early, and cant find other siblings with same parents, so assumed to be another Ellen.

Ellen's father was James Morris and her mother was Elizabeth (Betsy) Smith. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Alice and Sarah. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 59 in June 1906 in Bolton. Her burial was on June 23rd, 1906 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.³⁴

  This may not be the correct Ellen, as another Ellen Mather of about the correct age was recorded in an Institution in 1911.

General Notes
- 1851, Ellen, daughter of James, a General Provision dealer, and Elizabeth at Cross Street, East Bolton.
  
  3 Aug 1867, Samuel and Ellen, both 21), daughter of James Morris, a lath cleaner. They married at the Baptist Chapel, Astley Bridge.
  
  In 1881, Samuel and Ellen were at 121 Chorley Old Road, Halliwell.
  
  In 1891, Ellen was Head and a Widow aged only 43. She still had Elizabeth (21), John (14), and Maud (11) with her.
  
  In 1901 Ellen (now 52) still in Little Bolton (now at 19 Plesant Street) had John (24) and Maud (21) with her. Oldest daughter Elizabeth had left and married.
  
  Ellen may have died in 1906, or been placed in an institution in 1911.
