Peter's father was Petrus (Peter) Mather and his mother was Sarah Jones. He had two sisters named Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the youngest of the three known children.  He died at the age of 58 in August 1779 in Middleton.  He was buried on August 25th, 1779 at St. Leonard (Middleton).¹
