In 1871 Mary J P Mather (2) was at Cox Green, Turton with her older sisters Eliza Ann (14) and Alice A (4).
In 1881, Harriet Mather was housekeeper at "De Rothwell Arms", Turton for William Pickup (39, Unmarried). With her were Mary Jane (12) and William Henry (9). It is likely that Mary Jane is William Pickup's daughter as she was registerted illegitimate with full name Mary Jane Pickup Mather.
