Martha was born in August 1826 in Middleton and her baptism took place on August 21st, 1826 at St. Leonard (Middleton).1  Martha's father was Moses Mather and her mother was Nanny Buckley.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Alice Collinge. She had a brother named David.  She was the younger of the two known children.
