John was born in July 1847 in Royton.1  John's father was Job Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Slater. He had a sister named Sarah.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at 2 months old in September 1847 in Royton.  His burial was on September 22nd, 1847 in Royton.2
