Francis was born in March 1845 in Derbyshire.1  Francis' father was John Mather and his mother was Eliza Platt. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Henry, Samuel, Mary, Harriet, Charlotte and Eliza.  He died at the age of 77 on July 18th, 1922 in Derbyshire.2
